Prophet Exchange is a peer-to-peer marketplace that gives people the freedom to create or take existing prices on their sports bets at the best possible value. The application aims to provide a transparent and flexible betting experience by streamlining the process to enhance engagement, satisfaction, and usability.
This case study focuses on creating a new deposit journey to provide an efficient process for users and help the company stay competitive.
As the lead designer, I spearheaded the design of the entire Deposit Journey, collaborating closely with a PM and the development lead. Effective tech communication was crucial due to third-party payment integrations.
My efforts led to a 20% increase in customer satisfaction and a 15% reduction in payment processing time, contributing to a 141% increase from August to September in deposit volume. Starting in Q3 2023, our wallet size has doubled and is now 69% higher than the previous peak in 2022.

This project is a 4 weeks challenge, the New Deposit Journey was released in August 2023 as part of the 2.0 Version across the Web, Android and iOS platforms.
The current third-party process can't handle the increased volume and new payment methods.
Inefficiencies in the deposit process can hinder competitiveness and revenue growth.
The current deposit process is not seamless or efficient, causing frustration and potential drop-offs.
Users require a faster and more secure deposit journey to enhance their overall experience.
Therefore, we need a smoother, faster, diversified, and more secure deposit journey for MVP users to enhance user satisfaction and trust, stay competitive, and drive revenue growth.
Offering new payment options in a clean, organized layout, this design enhances user flexibility and security.
Handling every aspect of the journey to ensure a smooth, trustworthy experience.
Building trust and clarity with clear inline helper text and instant, positive error messages.
This project's design phase spanned a total of 4 weeks. The process was as follows:
Contact for detailsThrough our backend data, I found that 85% of large transactions through MVP users are made via the web, not the mobile app. Therefore, for this project, I decided to prioritize web design first, followed by mobile. The reasons are as follows:
I analyzed the deposit processes of sports betting platforms like FanDuel and DraftKings, as well as mature banking systems from Chase and Bank of America. This competitive analysis examined the information architecture (IA), visual design, usability, and security of these deposit screens, summarizing the pros and cons for product design documentation. Due to NDA constraints, I can't share the detailed documents publicly. For an in-depth review, please reach out to me directly.
Based on the research, I created an assumption with a flow to highlight the key factors necessitating the new design visually. I also organized a UX review with stakeholders to align on the goals.
In evaluating the design options for our deposit process, I have two primary approaches: Option 1 - Overlay Card and Option 2 - Two Column View. Each option offers distinct advantages and considerations in terms of user experience, development effort, and screen adaptability. For more details, please reach out.
Option 2 - Two Column View wins the game because it allows users to view payment methods and deposit options simultaneously, making the layout more intuitive and less disruptive. This design is well-suited for larger screens, providing a spacious interface and streamlining the deposit process with fewer clicks.
Since we chose Option 2 (Two Column View), coding the new layout will require significant effort. Additionally, designing a Payment Details Form for the Merchant Account (Credit or Debit Card) would involve extra work if kept on the same screen, necessitating a scrollable design.
After discussing with the tech and stakeholders, we decided to build the payment details form using the existing overlay design. This approach saves development time and allows us to launch essential features first with a Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
A single-column layout is ideal for multi-step forms to ensure simplicity, but limited screen space made it impractical for our project. To address this challenge, I opted for a two-column layout with logically grouped related fields to efficiently utilize space. This design choice maintained usability and allowed us to create an efficient, practical form that meets our project's constraints while ensuring a positive user experience.
By choosing the Two Column View and leveraging the existing overlay for the payment form, we hit the sweet spot between design efficiency and user experience. This smart move allowed us to roll out a smoother, faster, and more secure deposit process as a Minimum Viable Product, perfectly aligning with our mission to boost user satisfaction, build trust, and drive revenue growth.
What’s Next? To make sure users fully embrace and enjoy the new deposit journey, I’m focusing on user education and onboarding. My goal? To make sure everyone knows how to get the most out of this new, improved process.
