Prophet Exchange is a peer-to-peer marketplace that gives people the freedom to create or take existing prices on their sports bets at the best possible value. The application aims to provide a transparent and flexible betting experience by streamlining the process to enhance engagement, satisfaction, and usability.
This case study focuses on creating a quick betting feature on the homepage, to make it fast and easy for users to bet.
As the lead designer, I spearheaded the design of the New Home Screen, incorporating Quick Bet Windows and enhancing our Design Systems to meet WCAG 3.0 standards. I also supported the new feature's transition into the build stage, ensuring the accurate implementation of the design vision.
Current activated users often experience frustrating delays and complexities when attempting to place bets quickly. The existing interface for placing bets is not optimized for speed and ease of use, leading to user frustration and potential loss of valuable betting opportunities.
So it is essential to enable faster betting for activated bettors to place bets immediately on the Homepage. Help them to discover valuable betting opportunities, enhancing their overall betting experience and satisfaction.

Phases 2 : Place the spread bet
Users have reduced their willingness to place bets due to the overly complicated betting process.
Users can’t easily access valuable betting opportunities due to the low discoverability of crucial sports event information on the homepage screen.
Users experienced frustration and inefficiency due to a lack of visual hierarchy.
It’s hard for users to make confident bet decisions due to a lack of instant feedback.
The Quick Betting Experience was released in November 2022 as part of the 1.3.4 Version on Android and iOS platforms. This update enhanced the user experience by making the betting process more intuitive and streamlined, featuring clear, transparent processes and instant real-time feedback.
New Homepage with Quick Bet Experience
Pills design provides users with quick access to locate sports, reducing the time and clicks.
The one-piece bet card offered a comprehensive, real-time view, allowing our users to make quick, informed comparisons and decisions.
The new design makes the Bet-slip more intuitive, user-friendly, and accessible with instant feedback.
This project's design phase spanned a total of 6 weeks. In the early stages of the project, I worked closely with the PM to understand user pain points in the betting experience. Reviewing UX research, support tickets, and the current user flow, I identified key issues: users struggled with navigation and making quick, informed bets, leading to frustration and missed opportunities. This highlighted clear opportunities to streamline the process, improve real-time feedback, and enhance navigation for a more confident and efficient user experience.
The most challenging aspect of this project is developing the quick bet module (sub nav, bet cards and bet slips), how could I achieve a balance between making the betting process fast and ensuring that it remains clear and intuitive for users?
What I did was streamline the navigation process, show critical information first with additional details available on demand, and implement efficient backend systems for real-time updates. I always prioritized user-centered design.
Through the design audit for the old betting experience, I found that the homepage was just a betting entry point, it couldn't identify people's problems or make betting choices. So I rebuild the Homepage IA Structure with design principles to highlight key information to help me define the quick bet module.
Based on the user feedback in the first round test, the old sub-nav has low discoverability issues due to the large amount of information on the homepage. After the competitive analysis with Product Manager, we discussed various options and landed on this Pills Design.
New Pills Design
Through the assumption review, I locked the essential information to place a quick bet, with that critical information I developed 2 iterations for the quick bet card. See pros and cons
After the design review, we both think One-Piece Card is more fitting for our goal to help users discover more valuable betting opportunities. By displaying all relevant options in a single view, this design makes it easier for users to compare bets and quickly identify the best opportunities, enhancing their overall experience.
In a start-up environment where time is money, I was given full control by my supervisor to push the project forward. This required extensive communication with multiple domain teams to quickly learn their context, secure buy-in, and obtain sign-offs.
Despite working with lovely people, conflicts inevitably arose, particularly regarding legacy design and code. However, I believe that advocating for the best user experience is crucial for long-term product success, even if it means facing short-term challenges. Through collaboration and persistence, we laid a strong foundation for our product's future.
If you’d like to hear more about my design story and what I have learned, I’d be happy to share during the presentation.
